RH bill

The said bill is the most controversial of all the potential laws in Philippines. The battle to achieve a good and happy family becomes a battle of faith when the Catholic Church questions the entire content of the Reproductive Health Bill while the other sectors show support.

To continue further, let me discuss with you the crux of the said bill. According to the press released by the Economic Planning Office of the Senate dated July 2009. The Reproductive Health and Population Development bill (House Bill No. 5043/Senate Bill No. 3122) popularly known as the RH bill. Reproductive health implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so. Implicit in this last condition is the right of men and women to be informed and to have access to safe, effective, affordable and acceptable methods of family planning and fertility regulation of their choice, as long as they are not against the law. It is also understood that couples have the right of access to appropriate healthcare services that will enable the women to go safely through pregnancy and childbirth, and have the best chance of having a healthy infant.

Sadly, not all are well-informed and they're misinformed. To name a few, Abortion is a not a part of the said bill and it will never be legalized. Physicians are vowed to respect life at all times and they will never do such thing unless the mother is in danger and the principle of double effect is different issue to discuss. What only the bill states regarding abortion is that the healthcare professionals will not judge a woman who underwent an abortion and gives her the proper treatment. As regards with contraceptive as abortifacient, the debate of when life is formed is not yet cleared. The Catholic Church insists that life begins at fertilization, it's partly true but then again not all fertilized ova have the capacity to develop and still, life begins at implantation because the development and nourishment starts in the uterus.

Another section of the bill in terms of educating the youth ranges from Grade five to fourth year highschool about sex through life skills is also opposed by some but education is the key for responsible actions. Sex education focuses on the genitals, conception, consequences of sex and they will expose to the hardship of raising a family. By then, they will become more responsible and less curious about sex.

I support the RH bill, simply because of free will. Let each couple decide for their own. Let the youth know the consequences of having sex and let each woman decide for their own health.

NMAT

Tomorrow will be the anticipated NMAT (National Medical Admission Test). The exam is a requirement for admission to any medicine school and requirement by the law. Some school are not strict as regards with the score, (OLFU and San Beda to name a few). Scoring is not fair because unlike the board exams which scoring is based on the number of items you answered correctly and there's a corresponding equivalent value on it. The scoring in NMAT exam is percentile that is different from percentage scoring. Meaning, if you got a raw score of 399 and most of the examinees got 400, you'll get a 1 percentile rank and the latter will get 99+. So, I consider it as a competition.

I started the review since September and I hope all my efforts will be rewarded tomorrow.

This is from God, the origin of all the knowledge and I'm just an instrument to fulfill his mission for me in this world.

From RN to MD (to be)

When I was a child (not too long ago actually) It's my dream of becoming a Doctor. I still recall every time my parents ask me if what do I want to be when I grow up and my answer was to become a Doctor until in highschool. Due to my mom did not allowed me to have my studies in Manila, I enrolled BS Psychology at the State University instead and after 2 months I realized that it was not for me so I waited months to open the second semester from the school where I graduated highschool. I choose Nursing as my course then. Some of my Clinical Instructors told me that I should enter Medical School instead of Nursing and I always respond with a smile.

I finished Nursing, March of 2009 and I took the June 2009 Nursing Licensure Examination. With the grace of our Lord and effort I passed the exam. I worked as a volunteer nurse in 2 private hospitals in Bataan. I met Ross, my partner in duty at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She's reviewing by that time for the NMAT (National Medical Admission Test) and I told her that it's in my plan to take up medicine but I guess this year is not yet the time for me to pursue it. March of this year when I asked my mom if she will allow me (knowing the cost of studying medicine including the daily expenses) but she refused.

At present, I'm working on my Master's degree with a major of Nursing Administration at Centro Escolar University. I met a lot of people who became my friends. I enjoy the discussion and the pressure every time there's a deadline. I thought things are predictable that I am able to finish my graduate studies on May 2012.

Unexpectedly my mom approached me and asked "Anak gusto mo bang mag doctor?" and then I said "Opo." I thought she just asked and nothing will happen. Days gone by and the questions became more serious; She asked me where would I take it, etc.

I admit, I became emotional last week it's just that I feel blessed because God granted me with supportive parents like them. They are my pillars of strength and I will never fail them.As I said from my wallpost, I want to serve my country and it's my pleasure to hold the two words (abbreviation) after my name but there's a calling for a greater venue of service and I just go where my heart dictates me to go. :)

My interview in Fatima went this way: Doctor: Hi! Ryan, how old are you? Me: 22 Sir, ill be turning 23 on October 18. Doctor: What makes you decide to pursue medicine? Me: Well sir, its my childhood dream, I have only one life and I dont want to regret something in the future. Doctor: Nice.. (He was looking on my transcript) Doctor: Where is your anatomy here? (I pointed, here Sir.) Doctor: Sakto ang grade mo ah! Me: (Explaning my study habits way back in College, Prelims 92-95 Midterms and finals di na pumapasok kasi safe na hehe.) He browsed again my transcript then he saw my grades in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology then he said (good mukhang nakabawi) Doctor: Be sure you’ll take your NMAT because that’s important as a requirement. Me: Yes Sir. Doctor: (He’s signing the recommendation at that point) Registrar: You availed the makabayan scholarship, pang 22 ka palang. Ayun nagenroll na ko hahaha!

Everything happens for a REASON

Hi everyone! its been a long time after I post another entry in what so called "tambayan". After a long wait finally, I'll have my first work as a nurse at Bataan Doctor's Hospital and I'm about to start 5 hours to be exact haha. God is so good right? I worked for 2 weeks at Rotary International Clinic and I'm so blessed because I'd met new set of friends and I'm confident that I'm in good hands everytime I'm with them. I guess you've found my first two phrases, contradicting right? haha! what I mean was, that it will be my first work as a nurse in a hospital setting. Did I make my self clear? hahahahaha!

I could not ask for anything much. God is so good to me. I know for all the things that I've been through, this is a testimony that those things happened for there are better things like these to come. God has a plan for me, much better than the plans I have for myself and I know I'm always on the right track.

No more tears... ahahaha! I have to begin with that line because I know you guys read the article and the picture in tears before this.

The agony of waiting the result of board exam is such a hell. Everyday, every hour youre getting paranoid if the results are out. The results was released 48 days after the Nurse Licensure Examinations. Here is my story prior to the results.

I am connected with Atty. Glenn Luansing, the Executive Secretary of The Royal Pentagon Review Specialist Inc. and one of our reviewers in facebook. He said that the result will be out on Saturday, July 25, 2009. So I became so anxious and believe me, I cant stop myself from praying the Holy Rosary because I know the results will be out on the said date. 7:00 AM, Saturday I opened my laptop and chat with other friends who are also waiting. by 12:00 NN Sir Glenn said that we should pray hard because the night could be our BIG NIGHT. From then on.. I grabbed the rosary and prayed the rosary in tears and I shouted on a pillow. By 6PM I said this is it I should take my bath because I know whatever the results I will be hugged by my family hahaha! and the fact that I didnt took my bath 2 days prior that date. ahahaha! Anxiety at its peak indeed. By 7PM, someone told me that the top 1 was already announced by the PRC (information provided through Carl Balita Radio Show, DZMM) and just said that only 41% made it. After that I felt my self esteem went down because I no longer expect that I am part of it. I called my friend Christina and I made my "BILIN" if ever I fail or pass that she will not call me no matter what. My cousin Len-Len came in my room crying and I comforted her I told myself "Please naman wag ka makisabay..." but I am not that rude I just told her "Pag pasado ako ipromise mo saken na di ka naiiyak pag bagsak ako.. sabay tayo umiyak."

Around 9PM this is it, after several refreshes on the browser, the Exam Result page of Inquirer dated, 25-July-2009 NURSE. Then I thought maybe they are just preparing because the results will be out anytime soon (Actually Im on denial that time) then I clicked O. My surname is in first part knowing how you seek something on dictionary? haha. Len-Len was on my side and she was the one who holds the mouse and Im just guiding her. In my excitement and nervousness, we accidentally pulled the page down and I saw my name. My vision became narrowed as I read my name 22177. OCAMPO, RYAN DIAZ. I went out in my room crying and called my mom as I uttered "Nay... RN na ko.." Few steps back, my mother guided me back on my room and I cant help myself but to shout out loud as if something bad happens. I mean guys, If you heard me shout youll never distinguish if I passed or not. ahahaha! Then tito ern and tita lhay came because they think something just happened to me. A lot of phone calls and my relatives came. My father was on his friends and my mom informed her that I pass and the rest was history...

I’m not certain of where to start. This past few weeks, many things just happened to me. Events that even I cant believe was happened. I’ve lost myself and done things out of what is right. I’ve lost my way but going back is not easy knowing that I am picking up the pieces along the way. I want to find my old self. I want to do the things I used to do. I must admit, I am not the old Ryan everybody used to know.

I just love, but I never expected to be hurt badly. I thought that person would be perfect to fill the empty spaces of me, but I was wrong. I expected too much. Deep in my heart I know I just love the person and again, As I always say, I am not asking for anything much. My love for that person is unconditional.

Many words has been said that hurts too much. But then again its always me who apologize even though words said continues to lash in the depths of my soul. I love the person more than myself, to the point that I have less. All my priorities was changed when I started our relationship.

I tried to kill myself when we had a fight. I was rushed to University of Santo Tomas Hospital and confined there for two days. I thank all those who visited me, To Amor, my best friend who contact the rest of our friends in nurse journal to visit me. In response, Kuya Damo and Kuya Leds came and bonded with my parents and with me of course. I thank also Tita Lhay my beautiful and caring Tita and her family. I appreciated everything they did. To ate chat and kuya JR also. To everyone who extend their prayers and sympathy, I thank them all. Unfortunately, the reason (person) why I did that didn’t came. That person even assured me that everything will be alright when I went out in the hospital. The following day, that night. Unexpectedly, we broke up. I felt numb and I cant breath. My world stop and cant believe of what was happened. Everything happened so abruptly.

The following day we had a fight again but then again its me who always asking for forgiveness. I tried to fix things, 200 calls and messages but that person didn’t answered any. We went to Pangasinan with the rest of our relatives to relax. “Ang hirap pala no? Wag kang pupunta sa beach kapag malungkot ka ma de-depressed ka lang.” I was crying every time I am alone. Im begging and shouting that person’s name at the beach. For me, that’s too much to handle its just like an emotional torment.

Now, All I wanted for us is to become friends but that person wants to forget everything even as acquaintance. Too much pain. “Parang tinapon niya nalang yung pinagsamahan namin.” That person cant forgive me of what I did.
I hope in time everything will be fixed and I just hope all the pain will be fade away soon.

Cross as an accesory : Cool or not

Im sure you always see anyone wearing the cross symbol on the neck, radius and foot or even imprinted on their own skin!! But the question is, is it rightful for someone to wear the symbol of the cross liberally?I maybe sounded as moralist but this is the reality, How can we be sure that those who wear that symbol were really believers or Catholics to be specific? For some there is no issue here but for a Catholic like me its an issue that sould be given much attention.

The Cross remind us of the sufferings our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ undergone for us to be saved. Sadly, there are people who never understand the importance of the cross and use it for their own image enhancement. There is no issue here if they practice what they wear. Apparently, they wear it while doing unearthty things.

In my own opinion, its not cool to wear the cross just for them to be recognized as hip, in or whatsoever. The Cross should be venerated in respect for someone who died more than 2000 years ago at the mount of calvary.

The things that I miss

I know these things will never be seen again... It feels that a part of me was lost..

1. I miss the old house of my grandparents (the house was destroyed and totally renovated)
2. I miss the old public market.
3. I miss our old house, I miss the simplicity of life before.
4. I miss my baseball player bear, I really dont know where is he. I want him back
5. I miss the store near the school.
6. I miss the watermelon pearl shake at Greenwich.
7. I miss the "seven 24 store" at Bataan Terminal Mall (the latter will be converted into robinson's mall)
8. I miss the waiting shed infront of the hospital.
9 I miss the small house behind the hospital that we used to be our tambayan during break.

If only I can bring them back...

The year that was

The entire year was unpredictable, as always definitely. There are things that I almost regret but I’m still thankful to those scenes in my life that lead me to the people whom I wished to be with me for the rest of my life. I thank God for giving me chances day by day to show my love and care for everyone that I loved.
We Christians were expected to forgive those who offended us, just what we used to sing during mass. But to forget, I guess is the hardiest part. I confess, I’m the type of a person who forgives easily but the relationship I had with the offender will never be the same again maybe depends on what was done and the amount of pain gained.
The following were the lessons that I’ve learned this year….

Lesson #1: Be friends with everyone but be true to just a few.
Lesson #2: Your family is your only refuge.
Lesson #3: Less talk, less mistakes.
Lesson #4: You cannot please everybody.
Lesson #5: Always smile.
Lesson #6: Say “NO” when needed.
Lesson#7: Don’t be affected on everything you hear.
Lesson #8: Thinkers are doers.

By the way, Im sorry if I seldom update my blog due to asshole connection from “Broadband ng bayan” I guess you discern what broadband company I’m pertaining to. Haha! Yes assured my blog will be updated anytime next year. God bless!

Im tired

I know each of us gets tired, just recently im tired of going to campus. To those who did not know I am a graduating nursing student this coming March. Im tired of doing same things again and again without gaining anything from it just experience that I think is not worth of my energy. Im pertaining to my final duty in Medical ward. I confess I love being assigned to medications, no regrets at all but I want to be complimented on my work on where I excel the most. Last wednesday we had our evaluation for our final duty in the area as expected the comment I received was exactly "throwing tantrums" without any good compliment. I think that is part of my system that if everything seems bad I show what I really feel and the only lesson that I learned from it was don't show it to the wrong person! haha! I mean it. He gave us good feedback that our group is good when it comes in knowledge and skills but I think evaluation should be done individually since that is our last duty. But honestly, ill miss the Medical ward, the most toxic ward in the hospital but you will feel the essence of being a student nurse when you do all the interventions without any supervision from your Clinical Instructor, Im sure he's trusting me. Maybe Im too sensitive but I want all the clinical instructor to evaluate us in our strengths and weaknesses.

Im too tired but hey! more than 4 months to go and all the hardwork will be payed off.

May kakaibang galak ang naramdaman ko noong sabado, sa simbahan nagkaayos kami ng isa sa mga taong nakasamaan ko ng loob na hindi ko inaasahan. Isang pag iwas ang ginawa ko ngunit isang ngiti ang iginanti nya sa akin. Hindi na ako nagdalawang isip na lapitan siya. Ang nabanggit ko lamang ay "Sorry" at isang pag halik at akap. Ibang galak ang naramdaman ko noong mga sandaling iyon. Tama nga na Time heal all wounds. Hindi maikukubli sakin na na miss ko ang taong yun. Hindi mahirap sakin ang magpatawad ngunit mahirap sa akin ang makalimot.

Sa bawat pagkadapa kailangan nating matuto. Sa bawat paglipas ng panahon ang mga sugat ay maghihilom ng kusa ngunit sa bawat sugat na ating natamo di natin maiiwasan na makita ang pilat na naidulot ng mga pangyayaring di natin inaasahan na maganap.

Its 11 years after tita Irene "NENG" left us. I miss everything about her. I still wonder what if she still lives today? We were young when she died due to heart illness. I was 9 years old then. Tita neng, I really miss you. Guide us tita. I want to kiss you again and sing the songs we loved to sing together. I know you are there with God, where there is no more pain and suffering.

Its been 4 years when my cousin died, I miss her so much, were been together since childhood. Everytime they visit bataan she will go straight in my room and even Im asleep, she wakes me up and we talk about everything under the sun and she always have a new hand games and jokes to share and we found ourselves laughing (sigh) I miss those days. She died due to oxygen insuffiency secondary to vehicular accident. I know wherever she is, she is happy. She was 12 when she died, she died a week before her graduation.

Kate, I miss yung pangingiliti ko sayo, yung tawanan natin. Yung pagkain natin ng kung ano ano. Yung kwentuhan natin. Hintayin mo kami kate dyan ha. I miss you so much. I cant wait to hug you and kiss you. That time will come and well be together forever. I miss you Katrina.

Lesson learned

Haaay..... dami kong natututunan, be careful in choosing your friends. Dont give your trust easily. Alam mo sa isip mo kaibigan mo pero tratrahidorin ka nyan. I am glad of what was happened this past 2 weeks nalaman ko kung sino yung mga totoong kaibigan sa hindi. Kahapon officially section B na ko medyo nakakapanibago pero alam ko magiging masaya yung stay ko dun. Last enrollment na for my 16 years na pag aaral sabi ko nga kila kim "namnamin nyo na yung pagsulat nyo sa registration form!" haha. Medyo nakakalungkot pero siyempre masaya kasi sa december yari na major subjects and the duty (sa wakas). Nakakainis kasi hindi daw kami kasama sa intrams, sa parade and to the rest of the activities. Sayang kasi last na yun tapos di pa kami makakasama kasi start na ng duty namin.
